History of HealthWorks of Humble

HealthWorks was founded August 8, 1995, by Sherry Arrick and Megan McCaw. It originally occupied a building leased from Jack Daniels at 619 First Street in Humble. On October 5, Megan left the company and Sherry continued alone. In the second year, on August 7, Beth Coahran joined Sherry as a homeopath, but returned to Oregon later that year. Space was also sub-leased for a short period of time to Lake Houston Academy and to Angela Girlinghouse, a registered massage therapist.

The fall of 1997, HealthWorks moved to 300 Main Street, Humble, as a sub-lessee of T. Sinead Lancaster, LMSW, for one day a week. It also operated out of a borrowed office at 9810 FM 1960 in Humble, loaned by Ashok Khushalani, MD, for one day a week. Plans were made for HealthWorks to occupy a building on Sherry’s home property in Huffman.

In April 1998, HealthWorks leased space at 1380 Stonehollow Drive in Kingwood, behind the chiropractic offices of Elaine Scott, DC. Faith Ballinger was hired as office receptionist. Space was shared with a massage therapist, Darlene Lewis, and a psychologist, Shannon Boyer. Jean Busch, LAc, moved in later, and HealthWorks then shared an office with Dr. Boyer.

The next location for HealthWorks was 1016 North Houston in Humble. The move was made in July 1999. Sherry’s daughter Marie was hired as office manager in February of 2000. Just before the lease was up in July 2001, the building had been sold and HealthWorks moved to 8820 Will Clayton Parkway.

Megan Arrick joined Marie in the office and they were in the Will Clayton office until January of 2002, when the office was moved back to 1016 North Houston. In October 2002, Donna Dominey was hired as office manager and later became case manager. She ran the office and saw clients for HealthWorks while Sherry’s daughter Marie battled lymphoma—and won, praise God!

In March 2005, Douglas Arrick purchased 722 Second Street, Humble, for HealthWorks and another move ensued, for the final time. Sherry returned to work part-time in June 2006. She and Donna continue to see clients and teach classes.
